I feel like it’s been so long since we last talked about the tiny house. The last update was from the Fall One Room Challenge that you can read about here which is when we discovered all of the mold in the house. Unfortunately having to go through mold remediation we had to put the bathroom makeover on hold. More in depth detail of the remediation process to come later!
With the holidays and Luna’s birthday party behind us we can finally start focusing on the tiny house! Since we had to do remediation for the whole building they gutted the entire house down to the frames. Before we put up the drywall we thought it would be a good time to update the layout.
Here is the current floor plan. The plan is to move the door to the front of the house and place it in between the two windows. This will give it the impression of a real house as well as make the hallway into more usable space. We are going to wall off the closet door that faces the hallway and make it accessible from the bathroom. We are planning to make the hallway Luna’s “bedroom” + area.
Unfortunately due to where the toilet is placed and not wanting to spend an arm and a leg to move it, we are keeping the bathroom layout as is minus the small update to the closet. I am planning on sticking with the makeover I had planned for the One Room Challenge. You can read and see the moodblard I have planned for that space here.
They removed the kitchenette for the remediation and we decided to not bring it back. Instead, I would like to turn that spot into a closet. I’ve been itching to do an IKEA Pax Closet hack for the longest. I’m glad that I might finally, have the opportunity to do it in this space!
Lastly, the back wall has an unusable ac unit in it. Once we remove it we will have to completely replace the siding for the exterior. This is the only full blank wall that we have in the house. I really want to add a faux fireplace and built-ins if the space allows.
If everything goes as planned, this is the layout I am going for. It’s crazy how just relocating the door has made such a huge impact to the flow of the room.
We are hoping to start working on the space on the weekends if the weather would cooperate with us!
