I am so excited to announce that I have decided to participate in the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge as a guest participant. After following along for the past few years, I decided it was time to stop watching from the side lines and just go for it. If you’re not familiar with the ORC, it is a bi-annual event where designers and guest participants makeover a room in their home over a 6-8 week period while sharing weekly updates with the design community.
The room that I’ve decided to makeover is our laundry room! Many new build homes tend to lack “character” and our laundry room is no exception. As the designated laundry person for our household, I spend a good amount of time here. Therefore, I am very excited to update this room.
When we built our house, we didn’t make many changes beside not installing door fronts on the base cabinet. Initially we wanted to turn the base cabinet into a dog kennel but as we are almost at one year of being in our home I think it is safe to say that is no longer the plan.
Now that you’ve seen the space we can start talking about what I want to do with the space. I want this room to not only be pretty but functional. I would like to add a countertop above the washer and dryer as most of our laundry requires folding. I have spent countless hours on Pinterest pinning so many swoon worthy laundry room inspo.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared or slightly intimidated. Most of the things I’m hoping to tackle will be unfamiliar territory and I don’t have much DIY experience to fall back on. However, I am still so freaking excited and I hope you will enjoy following me on this journey. Stepping out of your comfort zone feels scary but that is how we grow! Come back next week to see the final mood board for this space. Until then, definitely go check out the One Room Challenge blog to see what the Featured Designers and guest participants have planned for their rooms!
